CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Duke women’s tennis junior Emma Jackson collected a pair of singles victories Saturday at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Fall Regionals to advance to the semifinals at the Chewning Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Jackson, who hails from La Grange Park, Ill., opened action in the morning with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 win over 86th-ranked Eleni Louka of Clemson and then notched a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Maddy Zampardo of NC State. On Sunday, 36th-ranked Jackson will go up against 30th-ranked Abbey Forbes of North Carolina at 10 a.m., for a chance to advance to the title match.
In other singles play Saturday, sophomore Katie Codd collected a three-set victory over Furman’s Sara Isabel Snyder as she came back from dropping the first set, 5-7, to win the next two, 6-0, 6-2. Codd, who is from Carlsbad, Calif., then dropped a 6-2, 6-4 decision to Abigail Rencheli of NC State in the quarterfinals.
Duke junior Ellie Coleman fell, 6-3, 6-2, to fifth-ranked Reese Brantmeier of North Carolina and senior Karolina Berankova dropped a 1-6, 6-1, 6-3 match to Anna Zyryanova of NC State in the round of 16.
In doubles action, North Carolina’s 53rd-ranked Abbey Forbes and Reilly Tran defeated Jackson and Coleman, 7-5, 6-2, in the semifinals.
