GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Carol Lee advanced to the semifinals of the 2023 ITA Southeast Regionals, but fell in a battle as Georgia Tech women’s tennis concluded the tournament today.
A pair of Yellow Jackets took the court on Sunday in the singles main draw quarterfinals. Lee faced eighth-seeded Oyinlomo Quadre of Florida International. Lee and Quadre split the first two sets, 6-4, 4-6, to force a deciding third set. The Jacket clinched the win and a spot in the semifinals, taking the match, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. Lee faced a quick turnaround to take on Florida’s Emily De Oliveria in the semifinals. The Jacket battled hard, but fell, 6-3, 6-1.
Also in the quarterfinals, Kylie Bilchev saw action against Rachel Gailis (Florida). The Gator took the first set, 6-1, before Bilchev battled until the last point in the second, dropping a close 6-4 set.
Given Roach earned a bye to the consolation semifinals today. The freshman took on Miami’s Leonie Schunecht and fought hard, but fell in a heartbreaker, 7-6 (3), 6-4.
