Huskers Wrap Up Competition at Hilton Head ITF


Hilton Head, S.C. – The Nebraska women’s tennis team traveled to South Carolina this weekend to compete at the Hilton Head ITF.

Juniors Isabel Adrover Gallego and Vivien Sandberg and sophomores Anfisa Danilchenko and Lucy Loy were eliminated in the opening round. 

 

Sandberg started play for NU as she faced Charleston Southern’s Marina Skegro and fell 6-3, 6-1. Loy played Charleston Southern’s Luiza Fullana and lost 6-2, 6-1. Adrover Gallego matched up with Elizabeth Danailova and was defeated 6-3, 6-4. To finish play, Danilchenko faced Tenika Mcgiffin and fell 2-6, 6-2, (10-4). 

Sophomore Ana Carmen Zamburek made the trip but didn’t compete. 

 

All Huskers were eliminated after the first qualifying round and will not continue playing at the Hilton Head ITF. The team will be back in action at Newport Beach on October 9.

 

Day 1 Results:

Marina Skegro (CSU) def. Vivien Sandberg (NEB) 6-3, 6-1

Luiza Fullana (CSU) def. Lucy Loy (NEB) 6-2, 6-1

Elizabeth Danailova def. Isabel Adrover Gallego (NEB) 6-3, 6-4

Tenika Mcgiffin def. Anfisa Danilchenko (NEB) 6-2, 2-6, (4-10)
