CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia Tech wrapped up a successful weekend at the ITA Atlantic Regional on Monday by being represented in both main draw finals.
Ryan Fishback brought home the hardware in the singles draw by defeating No. 4 Inaki Montes (UVA) in the finals by retirement due to injury. Before reaching the final, Fishback defeated No. 7 Chris Rodesch – 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.
In doubles Fishback and Alberto Orso progressed to the doubles final before falling in two sets to a pair from VCU.
Alvaro Saez-Royuela Ariza advanced to the round of 16 in the gold draw before falling to eventual runner up Montes. Ariza earned that spot after winning three matches in the silver draw. In that same draw, Ryan Morgan picked up a win, while Orso grabbed two.
Ariza and Maia, along with Frank Thompson and Matt Harper, added to the Hokies’ success by advancing one match apiece in the gold doubles draw.
