Duke's Beck Highlights 2023 All-ACC Academic Women's Tennis Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Duke’s Chloe Beck is the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row and highlights the 2023 All-ACC Academic Team announced Wednesday.

Beck finished the season as the No. 7 ranked singles player in the country in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings after posting a 33-5 singles record, including a 10-1 mark in ACC play. The psychology major from Watkinsville, Georgia, earned multiple ITA awards this season including First Team All-America honors, Senior Player of the Year and Carolina Region Senior Player of the Year. Beck was tabbed First Team All-ACC in singles and Third Team All-ACC in doubles – one of 10 ACC players to earn both – as well as advancing to the Round of 16 at the 2023 NCAA Singles Championship and earning a spot on the USTA Summer Collegiate Team. The Duke Female Senior Student-Athlete of the Year also earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-America honors for the third-straight year, the first Blue Devil to do so.

This previous year, Beck was the fourth player in program history to record 30 wins in both singles and doubles in a single season, as well as setting the Blue Devils’ record for most consecutive ACC regular-season wins with 23 over her junior and senior seasons.

Florida State led the ACC with nine selections on the Academic Team, followed by Notre Dame with eight and Virginia with seven.

The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award was established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests.
