Demon Deacons Poised for Carolina Regionals


DURHAM, N.C. — The Wake Forest men’s tennis team will return to action Friday when the Demon Deacons travel to Cary for the ITA Carolina Regionals, hosted by Duke.
 
First round action will begin at 9:00 a.m., and all matches will take place at Cary Tennis Park.
 

Teams represented will include: Campbell, Col. Of Charleston, Charlotte, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, Davidson, Duke, Elon, Furman, Gardner-Webb, North Carolina, North Carolina A&T, UNC Asheville, North Carolina Central, N.C. State, UNC Wilmington, Presbyterian, South Carolina, South Carolina State, The Citadel, Queens University, Wake Forest and Wofford.
 
Last Time Out
The Wake Forest men’s tennis team had a solid outing at the ITA All-American Championships, as the Demon Deacons registered several victories during the week-long event.
 
Action began on Saturday, Oct. 1 with the pre-qualifying rounds as three Demon Deacons combined for five victories.
 
The Demon Deacons’ pre-qualifying outing was highlighted by Bozo Barun’s performance, as the freshman earned three victories and advanced to the pre-qualifying round of 16 before suffering his first defeat.
 
Wake Forest also picked up a victory in the qualifying rounds as Melios Efstathiou defeated Chase Ferguson of Oklahoma State.
 
Looking Ahead
After competing in the ITA Carolina Regionals, Wake Forest will return home to host the Wake Forest Invitational.
