RALEIGH, N.C. – Duke women’s tennis sophomore Ellie Coleman competed in a Universal Tennis College Circuit event this past weekend at NC State in Raleigh, N.C., and came away with a singles title.
Coleman, who hails from Midland, Ohio, opened with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Paula Dougherty in the round of 16 of the Wolf Bracket. She then totaled another 6-1, 6-1 win over Semra Aksu to advance to the semifinals on Sunday. Coleman turned in a 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 win over NC State’s Gina Dittmann in the semis, before winning the singles title over Sophie Abrams of NC State, 6-3, 6-3.
“It was great to have the opportunity to get out and play a few more matches before the end of the fall,” said Coleman. “I’m happy with the level I was able to play throughout the entire weekend.”
