Chloe Beck Advances to Singles Final at ITA Nationals


SAN DIEGO, Calif. – With a straight set victory over the No. 2 ranked singles player in the nation, Duke women’s tennis senior Chloe Beck advanced to the singles consolation final of the
Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Fall Championship on Saturday at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif.

A product of Watkinsville, Ga., Beck collected a 6-2, 7-6 (4) win over second-ranked Sarah Hamner of South Carolina on Saturday.  Beck will face Anika Yarlagadda of North Carolina in the final on Sunday at 1 p.m., ET).

Duke also closed action at the NC State Invitational on Saturday with matches against Georgia and NC State.  

Duke split two singles matches and dropped a doubles contest against the Bulldogs.  Emma Jackson and Iuliia Bryzgalova fell, 6-4, to Guillermina Grant and Mai Nirundorn of Georgia in doubles.  Blue Devil senior Georgia Drummy collected a 6-4, 7-6 win over Nirundorn in singles, while Bryzgalova dropped a 7-6 (5), 6-7 (6), 1-6 decision to Grant.  

The Blue Devils then split two singles matches and won the lone doubles contest versus the Wolfpack.  Katie Codd and Brianna Shvets teamed to defeat NC State’s Gina Dittmann and Chloe Henderson, 6-3, in doubles.  Shvets posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Henderson, while Codd fell in a 3-set match.
