Cardinals Fall to No. 24 Wake Forest

Winston-Salem, N.C. – The University of Louisville women’s tennis team fell 5-2 to No. 24 Wake Forest on Sunday afternoon at the Wake Forest Tennis Center.
 
Louisville drops to 8-14 (0-13 ACC) with the loss and Wake Forest improves to 15-9 (7-6 ACC) with the win.
 
Wake Forest clinched the doubles point, winning 6-2 on courts two and three. Tatiana Simova and Andrea Di Palma held a 4-3 lead against No. 8 Anna Brylin and Brooke Killingsworth at the No. 1 spot before the doubles point was clinched.
 
In singles, the Demon Deacons won the first four singles matches to extend their lead to 5-0. Louisville earned the final two points of the match when Simova outlasted Killingsworth 6-3, 6-4 and Chelsea Sawyer defeated Brylin in a third-set tiebreak 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7).
 
Up next, Louisville will travel to Rome, Ga to face Boston College in the first round of the ACC championship. The match is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
