Bulldogs Back At Home On Friday Against Florida


STARKVILLE – Mississippi State women’s tennis finally returns home after a four-match road trip.

The Bulldogs are set to host No. 19 Florida on Friday at 4 p.m. at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre with a free mocktail bar while supplies last. In case of inclement weather, matches will be moved indoors to the Rula Tennis Pavilion.

The match will mark the 41st matchup between the two teams. Mississippi State will attempt to earn its first victory in the series since 2019.

While on the road, Emmanouela Antonaki earned two ranked wins. Antonaki’s first ranked win came at Alabama against No. 58 Annie Marie Hiser. Her second came against Vanderbilt’s 46th-ranked Ariana Arseneault. For her career, she has earned 26 ranked singles victories.

Antonaki currently leads head coach Daryl Greenan‘s squad with a 16-10 overall record and is 11-5 in dual-match play.

Gia Cohen is coming off a 6-2, 6-2 win at Missouri last Friday. Cohen is 14-8 overall and 9-5 in dual play. Freshman Dharani Niroshan also earned a victory last Friday and has continued her success from the fall with a 10-8 overall record and is also 7-3 dual-match play.

Maria Rizzolo is the only ranked player for MSU at 117th nationally and owns wins over two ranked opponents, including the No. 6 Cameron Morra of Duke.

State is 10-7 overall and 0-6 in conference play. Florida is coming off a 4-1 win against No. 3 Michigan on Wednesday that moved the Gators to 9-4 overall and 3-2 in SEC play.

Florida’s lineup features several ranked players. Sara Dahlstorm (42), Caryl Briggs (45) and Anastasia Sysoeva (122) make up the ranked players in singles.

Additionally, the duo of Briggs and Rachel Gailis are ranked 60th in country in doubles.
