Holger Rune and Boris Becker spent some time on the practice courts this week in Monaco, fuelling rumors that the six-time major champion and former coach of Novak Djokovic may become a part of Rune’s team.
Rune posted an image of his team on Instagram, alongside the caption, “Great practice week in Monaco.”
Rune is still working with longtime coach Lars Christensen, but may be looking for someone to take the coaching role that was recently vacated by Patrick Mouratoglou.
According to Adam Addicot of UbiTennis.com, Rune’s mother confirmed Becker’s presence (and Christensen’s absence).
“He (Becker) helped Holger this week because Lars (Holger’s coach) was in Denmark,” Rune’s mother and manager Aneke reportedly said in a brief text message sent to Ekstra Bladet. The World No.5 has had a difficult second half of the season, that featured back issues and losses in seven of eight matches, beginning with a quarterfinal loss to Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon.
