DURHAM – Riding an 11-match winning streak, the Duke women’s tennis team jumped to No. 3 nationally on Tuesday, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The Blue Devils have collected a 22-2 overall and 11-1 ACC ledger entering the final week of the regular season.
Third-ranked Duke will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., on Friday, April 14 at 3 p.m., to face top-ranked North Carolina (26-0, 12-0 ACC) in a match to determine the ACC regular season champion.
Duke and North Carolina own two of the five longest winning streaks nationally entering Friday’s showdown at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center – North Carolina (26), Texas A&M (15), UNC Asheville (15), Southeast Missouri State (13), Stanford (12), Duke (11) and Pepperdine (10).
The Blue Devils are coming off registering a 4-3 win over No. 7 NC State on Saturday and a 4-0 victory over No. 24 Wake Forest. Duke has six top-25 wins during its 11-match winning streak.
In the latest top-10, North Carolina, Texas A&M, Duke, Georgia, Pepperdine, Michigan, Ohio State, NC State, Virginia and Texas are listed and a total of six ACC teams are in the top 25 – UNC (1), Duke (3), NC State (8), Virginia (9), Miami (13) and Georgia Tech (20).
The No. 3 ranking is the highest of the season for the Blue Devils and the highest since 2019 (3). The ITA also released updated singles and doubles rankings on Tuesday.
In singles, Chloe Beck is No. 4, Emma Jackson is No. 40, Cameron Morra is No. 73 and Georgia Drummy is No. 100. The Blue Devils feature three doubles teams ranked – Beck/ Morra (48), Jackson/Karolina Berankova (59) and Beck/Ellie Coleman (67).
