Beck Named to 2023 USTA Collegiate Summer Team

DURHAM – Duke women’s tennis recent graduate Choe Beck has been named to the 2023 United States Tennis Association (USTA) College Summer Team, the organization announced on Thursday.

Beck, who hails from Watkinsville, Ga., was one of five women’s players named to the team along with five men’s collegiate players.

The student-athletes will participate in the training program designed to help America’s premier college players assimilate to professional tennis in a team-oriented environment via USTA Player & Coach Development.

Just the fourth Blue Devil to earn All-America accolades three or more times, Beck is coming off one of the best seasons in school history with a 33-5 singles and 30-5 doubles ledger.  She became the fourth Blue Devil to collect 30 or more singles and doubles wins in a single season, while registering back-to-back 33-win seasons. Beck was ranked as high as No. 2 nationally, while playing No. 1 singles.  She received an invitation to compete in the NCAA Singles Championship for the second consecutive season and advanced to the round of 16.

Other women’s players selected were Reese Brantmeier (North Carolina), Fiona Crawley (North Carolina), Madison Sieg (Southern California) and Mary Stoiana (Texas A&M).

Each of the players were selected based on a number of criteria, including rankings, individual collegiate tournament results or Intercollegiate Tennis Association honors. Players on the team are eligible to receive a grant for travel to USTA Pro Circuit events and coaching support over the summer.

Vanderbilt’s Hailey Carter and Southern California’s Danielle Lao will travel with and coach the women.

Beck graduated in May with a degree in psychology along with a neuroscience and environmental science and policy minors.  She is expected to return in 2023-24 for a fifth year with the Blue Devils.
