NORFOLK, Va. — The Wisconsin men’s tennis team finished its weekend on the road in Virginia by dropping a close match to Old Dominion on Sunday afternoon. The Badgers (3-1) fell to the Monarchs (4-2), 4-3.
The Badgers continued their doubles domination, securing the doubles point for the fourth straight time this season. Jason Hildebrandt and Jared Pratt started things off for Wisconsin, taking down ODU’s Luca Maldoner and Nicola Vidal, 6-1, to keep the doubles pair undefeated through the first two weeks of the season.
Shortly after, Gabriel Huber and Michael Minasyan clinched the doubles point for the Badgers. The duo earned their first doubles win of the season after a successful fall tournament run by defeating Younes Lalami and Brandon Perez, 6-4, at No. 1 doubles.
Up 1-0, UW’s Minasyan put the second Wisconsin point on the board after a quick two-set win over Vidal, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5 singles. Behind the freshman’s momentum, four Badgers were battling it out in the third sets of their matches.
At No. 4 singles, Sebastian Vile put UW up 3-1. After taking the first set 6-4, Old Dominion’s Cosme Rolland de Ravel rallied to win the second set, 6-3. But Vile did not give up and stayed his course to fight for a 6-3 win in the third and putting the Badgers up by two points.
Ultimately, the Monarchs after being down 3-1 were able to win the remaining three singles matches and take the team victory.

The Badgers return to Madison for a weekend at Nielsen. They host Western Michigan on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Yale on Sunday at 11 a.m.
