DURHAM – Duke women’s tennis head coach Jamie Ashworth announced the 2024 spring slate on Wednesday, which will open action on Saturday, Jan. 13 in Durham.
The Blue Devils are scheduled to play the first six matches at home inside the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center and feature a total of 13 home contests in 2024. Duke has collected an 85-3 ledger in home matches over the last seven years.
The 2024 schedule will be very challenging for the Blue Devils as it features 17 teams that advanced to the NCAA Championship a season ago – SMU, Charlotte, Illinois, Princeton (twice), Auburn, Denver, Ohio State, UCLA, Miami, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, NC State, North Carolina, Virginia and Notre Dame. Six of those opponents moved on to the round of 16.
Duke opens play Jan. 13 by hosting SMU at 1 p.m., and then hosts NC Central (Jan. 18), Charlotte (Jan. 18) and Illinois (Jan. 20).
The Blue Devils once again host the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Kickoff Weekend in Durham Jan. 26-27. Duke welcomes Princeton on Jan. 26, while Auburn will face Denver. The two winning teams will then face each other on Jan. 27 at 4 p.m., for the chance to advance to the National Team Indoors in Seattle, Wash.
Duke travels to Columbus, Ohio, for a pair of matches to open the month of February. The Blue Devils take on Ohio State on Feb. 2 at 1 p.m., and then has a rematch against UCLA on Feb. 3 at 12 p.m.
In ACC action, Duke kicks off play Feb. 23 and Feb. 25 on the road in Florida facing Miami (Feb. 23) and Florida State (Feb. 25).
Other road ACC matches include Wake Forest (March 22), NC State (March 24), Notre Dame (April 12) and Louisville (April 14). Duke hosts seven league contests in either Ambler Tennis Stadium or Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center – Syracuse (March 1), Boston College (March 3), Clemson (March 8), Georgia Tech (March 10), North Carolina (March 30), Virginia Tech (April 5) and Virginia (April 7).
Duke sandwiches a final non-conference regular season match in Orlando, Fla., against Princeton on March 13 at 12:30 p.m.
The ACC Championship is scheduled to be contested April 17-21.
