Vanity Fair magazine gave some established and rising American tennis stars their own “Hollywood Issue” photo spread just in time for the US Open.
The September issue of the iconic magazine features 13 American players from both the ATP and WTA tours. They include Frances Tiafoe, Jessica Pegula, Tommy Paul, Seb Korda, Ben Shelton, Alycia Parks, Shelby Rogers, and Michael Mmoh, among others.
The current collection of American pro tennis players are leading conversations around equality, inclusivity, and mental health that push the game to be better—they’re inventors, ready to make the game their own.

With the headline “American Tennis Has Never Been Hotter,” the feature includes dazzling photography from Dana Scruggs while also revealing intriguing background info on several players from Madison Keys’ social advocacy to how Rogers grew up being homeschooled.
Maxime Cressy’s serve-and-volley style is all too rare in current tennis. He is on a one-man mission to bring it back—in retro short shorts that emphasize his stretch.

“After decades of hand-wringing about who would take up the mantle, their heirs are now coming into their own. The current field of American pro tennis players is the most exciting, talented, and varied we’ve seen in decades—men and women alike. Both tours’ deep benches are dominating the sport’s competitions, and the global sport closest to paying men and women equally for their efforts is benefiting doubly for it.,” writes Caitlin Thompson in the article.
The Vanity Fair September issue is available online and on newsstands.
