Alabama Places Six on ITA Scholar-Athlete Team

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women’s tennis team placed six athletes on the 2022 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete Team, the organization announced Monday. The achievement marked the sixth-consecutive year that the Crimson Tide had six or more athletes earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.

Anne Marie Hiser and Sydney Orefice repeated as ITA Scholar-Athlete honorees after being recognized during their freshman year in 2021. Ansley Cheshire, Ola Pitak, Kasia Pitak and Petra Sedlackova were also named to this year’s team, receiving the honor after a successful first year at Alabama.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners are factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: Be a varsity letter winner; have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year; and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman through senior year).
