Alabama Men’s Tennis Enzo Aguiard Will Play In The Singles Main Draw Championship Match At The ITA Southern Regional Championships


TUSCALOOSA, Ala.– The Alabama men’s tennis team finished the fourth day of play at the ITA Southern Regional Championships on Monday, which is being held at the Alabama Tennis Stadium. The Crimson Tide’s Enzo Aguiard and Roan Jones battled each other in the semifinal round, resulting in Aguiard advancing to the final round of the tournament.

Singles Quarterfinals

  • Roan Jones started the day with an upset over No. 6 Nikola Slavic of Ole Miss
  • Jones fell in the opening set 7-6 (2), before fighting back to win in mirroring sets of 6-4, 6-4
  • Enzo Aguiard earned a win over Auburn’s Jan Galka, falling in the first set 7-5
  • Aguiard also battled back in clinch mirroring sets at 6-2, 6-2
  • Filip Planinsek went up against Mississippi State’s Carles Hernandez
  • Planinsek took the first set at 6-4, before falling in the final two sets, 6-3, 7-5

Singles Semifinals

  • Enzo Aguiard took on teammate Roan Jones for a spot in the championship match
  • Aguiard won 6-3, 6-1 which snapped a 10-match winning streak by the Alabama freshman
