KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt women’s tennis is assured of the singles title and has an opportunity to claim the doubles title as the Commodores completed semifinal play at ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship on Sunday at Tennessee.
The tournament’s top seed, No. 12 Célia-Belle Mohr, faced a teammate for the second straight day. She held off Holly Staff in three sets to reach the final. There, she will meet a third straight Dore, No. 67 Bridget Stammel. In Stammel’s semifinal match, the third seed scored an upset win over second-seeded, No. 17 Elza Tomase of Tennessee in straight sets to setup the all-Vandy championship match.
Doubles tops seeds Mohr and partner Anessa Lee ousted a Xavier team to reach the final. They will face Kentucky’s Elizabeth Eades and Lidia Gonzalez, who upset the second and fourth seeds en route to the title match.
The singles final will be played Monday at 9 a.m. CT and the doubles final is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
