NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team returns to action Thursday at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship, where Dores are three of the top five singles seeds. The tournament will be hosted by Tennessee at Barksdale Stadium and the Knoxville Racquet Club.
The event starts with singles at 8 a.m. CT, with the first round of doubles set to get underway at 2:30 p.m. The tournament runs through Monday.
In the 128-player singles draw, all seven Dores are seeded among the top 32, led by top seed sophomore Célia-Belle Mohr. She is followed by sophomore Bridget Stammel as the third seed and senior Anessa Lee at No. 5. Senior Holly Staff and sophomore Sonya Macavei are seeded 9-16, while freshman Valeria Ray and junior Amy Stevens are seeded 17-32.
Vanderbilt also leads the 64-team doubles event, with Mohr and Lee seeded first, Staff and Ray fourth, and the duo of Stammel and Macavei seeded 9-16.
Three Dores come into the competition nationally ranked in singles: Mohr at No. 12, Stammel at No. 67 and Lee at No. 103.
