CARY, N.C. – On day one of the ITA Women’s All-American Championships Main Draw, One Tar Heel singles player and two UNC doubles teams advanced to the round of 16.
To begin the day, top-ranked singles player Fiona Crawley defeated Yuijia Huang of BYU 7-5, 6-4 to advance to the second round.
Reese Brantmeier dropped her singles match but quickly bounced back with teammate Elizabeth Scotty to win their opening doubles match and secure a place in the round of 16. The duo defeated Georgia’s Dasha Vidmanova and Aysegul Mart, 2-6, 7-5, 10-5.
Reigning NCAA doubles champions, Fiona Crawley and Carson Tanguilig defeated Auburn’s Ali Spain and Adaline Flach, 2-6, 6-4, 10-4 to advance while Abbey Forbes and Reilly Tran fell in their doubles match.
The round of 16 begins Thursday at 9 a.m.
The Tar Heels will finish out the week in the ITA All-American Championships in Cary before hosting the ITA Carolina Regional Championships beginning October 19th at the Chewning Tennis Center.
