Four Huskers Earn Academic All-District Honors


Isabel Adrover Gallego, Lucy Loy, Jillian Roa and Vivien Sandberg of the Nebraska women’s tennis team earned Academic All-District honors, selected by the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday. The honor recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in the classroom and on the tennis court.  
 
A Computer Engineering major, junior Adrover Gallego earned the Sam Foltz 27 Hero Leadership Award this season, while also being named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll and the 2023 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. On the court, Adrover Gallego helped the Huskers grab 16 wins and obtained an overall singles record of 15-12 and a 12-7 doubles record.
 
Loy, a sophomore accounting major, has been named to the 2023 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team and the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. Loy earned an 9-11 overall singles record and a 10-10 doubles mark.
 
Sophomore Roa is working towards her Bachelor’s degree in Economics. Off the court, she was named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll, the 2023 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team and she earned the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. On the season, Roa earned an 8-6 singles mark.
 
Rounding out the group is, junior Sandberg who is majoring in Business Administration. This year, she earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll and is a member of the 2023 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. Sandberg earned an overall 7-7 singles record and a 1-1 overall doubles mark.

Academic All-District Honorees will advance to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America ballot. Voting for the Academic All-America tennis teams begins today and closes on Tuesday, May 16.
