CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia men’s tennis junior Chris Rodesch was named the ACC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, while fifth-year William Woodall and junior Iñaki Montes were named the ACC Men’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week in honors announced Tuesday (April 11) by the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Rodesch picked up his second victory of the year against a top-five player on Friday, taking down No. 5 Melios Efstanthiou of Wake Forest 6-2, 6-3. He followed on Sunday with a straight-set victory against Luca Staeheli of NC State to improve to 11-1 on the No. 1 court this spring.
Montes and Woodall clinched the doubles point at NC State on Sunday with a 6-3 victory against No. 15 Robin Catry and Staeheli after winning 6-2 against Wake Forest’s top doubles team on Friday in Winston-Salem.
This is the fourth time this season that a Cavalier has been named the ACC Player of the Week and the third time for Rodesch. This is the second doubles honor of the season for the Cavaliers but the first for Montes and Woodall. This is Woodall’s fourth career doubles honor and the third for Montes. It is Rodesch’s fifth time being named the ACC Player of the Week.
