THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team (11-11, 2-6 ACC) concluded its weekend on the road with a 5-2 loss to conference competitor, Miami.
Miami earned an early advantage, winning two straight doubles matches and clinching the first point.
The Jackets claimed two victories in singles play. No. 34 Andres Martin recorded his sixth-straight singles win and 12th win over a nationally-ranked opponent. Martin took down Miami’s No. 50 Dan Martin in a 6-3, 6-4 decision.
Tech’s second singles victory came from No. 60 Marcus McDaniel. McDaniel’s match with Miami’s Antonio Prat was a close battle that went to three sets. He split the first two sets with Prat 7-6 [7-4], 6-7 [3-7] but McDaniel was ultimately victorious with a 10-5 win in the third.
