STARKVILLE – Mississippi State women’s tennis plays host to No. 26 South Carolina at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.
The match will mark the 34th matchup between the Bulldogs and Gamecocks. State will attempt to earn its first victory in the series since 2015.
Emmanouela Antonaki earned her third ranked win of the season on Friday. Antonaki took down Florida’s 42nd-ranked Sara Dahlstorm in straight sets. With the win, she has claimed 27 career ranked singles victories.
Antonaki leads the team in dual-match play with a 11-5 record and a 17-10 overall record.
Dharani Niroshan claimed her eighth dual match victory on Friday. Niroshan defeated Florida’s Rachel Gailis 6-4, 7-6(6). The win moves her to 11-8 overall and 8-3 in dual play.
Maria Rizzolo is the lone ranked player for Mississippi State and has claimed two ranked wins, including then No. 6 Cameron Morra of Duke.
State is 10-8 overall and 0-7 in SEC play. South Carolina is coming off a 6-1 win against Ole Miss on Friday that moved the Gamecocks 9-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
South Carolina’s lineup features two ranked singles players in Anyana Akli (6) and Sarah Hammer (16). Akli and Hammer also make up the 70th-ranked doubles tandem for the Gamecocks.
