GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – NC State swept the Atlantic Coast Conference men’s tennis weekly awards as Rafa Izquerido Luque was named the ACC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, while Robin Catry and Luca Staeheli earned ACC Men’s Doubles Team of the Week honors.
Izquerido Luque defeated the top-ranked player in the country, No. 1 Eliot Spizzirri in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-0 as No. 20 NC State battled No. 3 Texas. Previously unranked, the win took the fifth-year transfer to No. 52 in the country.
The duo of Catry and Staeheli took down the third-best pair in the country of Spizzirri and Cleeve Harper. The now 27th-ranked pair out of Raleigh, North Carolina, earned a 6-3 win on Court One.
