HOME SWEET HOME
Tech has constructed an 8-1 record which marks their best start since the 2017-18 campaign. The Hokies are 8-0 at Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center outscoring their opponents 45-4. Özlem Uslu, Tamara Barad Itzhaki and Katie Andreini lead Tech in singles with seven wins in their first eight matches, respectively. Erika Cheng remains perfect through her first six matches with four of them secured in straight sets. In doubles, Dariya Radulova and Andreini have paced the Hokies with a 6-0 mark on Court 1. Tech will face ranked opponents for the first time this season.
BLUE DEVILS
Duke travels to Blacksburg with an impressive 10-1 record with their only blemish coming at the hands of No. 15 Oklahoma, 2-4, at ITA National Team Indoors. The Blue Devils responded to that loss with a win over No. 6 Stanford, 4-3. Duke boasts three ranked players in the singles lineup headlined by No. 2 Chloe Beck followed by No. 26 Emma Jackson and No. 47 Cameron Morra. Beck anchor’s Court 1 for the Blue Devils with an 8-0 record this season and a career record of 92-24. Alongside Morra, the Duke Duo rank as the No. 18 doubles team in the nation notching six wins in their first six matches together.
TAR HEELS
North Carolina comes to town as the top ranked team in the nation holding a 14-0 record featuring a 4-0 win over Georgia to secure the programs fourth-straight ITA National Team Indoor Championship. The Heels have an unheard of seven players ranked in singles on their roster with four being within the top 25. The group is headlined by No. 1 Fiona Crawley compiling a 6-1 record so far this season and a 100-9 career record. UCLA transfer Abbey Forbes comes in at No. 7 with a 3-1 record. In doubles, Carson Tanguilig and Crawley hold the top pairing for UNC, ranked No. 4 with a 5-0 record in the 2022-23 campaign.
