Beck Earns ACC Co-Player of the Week Honors

DURHAM – Coming off an impressive weekend of action at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Team Indoors, Duke women’s tennis senior Chloe Beck was tabbed the ACC Women’s Tennis Co-Player of the Week on Tuesday.

A product of Watkinsville, Ga., Beck recorded a 3-0 weekend at the No. 1 singles position to help lead Duke to a pair of victories against sixth-ranked Stanford and Washington.  Beck registered an impressive win over Stanford’s third-ranked Connie Ma, 6-4, 6-3, as the Blue Devils won, 4-3, as a team.  Her two-set victory over Washington clinched the match for Duke. Beck and her partner, Cameron Morra, were leading all three of their doubles matches, 4-2, 4-3, 5-3, before the doubles point was clinched.

Beck received the honor along with North Carolina’s Anika Yarlagadda.

The weekly honor marks the second time a Blue Devil has received the ACC Player of the Week nod as Morra earned the honor on Jan. 31.

Duke will next travel to Blacksburg, Va., to face Virginia Tech in the ACC opener on Feb. 24 at 1 p.m.
