DOUBLES DOMINANCE
The 2022-23 campaign has gotten off to a solid start with the Hokies earning a 6-2 record, largely sparked by their ability to capture the doubles point. Jordan Chyrsostom and Ryan Fishback have yet to be challenged on Court 1 for Tech with a 3-0 record with several matches were dominated by the Hokie duo but concluded as unfinished. The pair have risen to the No. 5 doubles team in the nation in the ITA’s first rankings of the spring season. Fishback and Alberto Orso claimed the No. 29 spot after a dominant fall that earned them bids to ITA fall nationals. Tech will look to rely on their doubles prowess to pick up their first ranked win of the year.

MTSU

The Blue Raiders arrive in Blacksburg with a 7-2 record this spring with a successful showing at ITA Kickoff Weekend that featured a win over No. 19 Duke, 4-2. MTSU boasts three ranked singles players in their lineup; No. 80 Stijn Slump, No. 91 Oskar Brostrom Poulsen, No. 122 Francisco Rocha. Slump is 6-3 patrolling Court 1 for the Blue Raiders including a 2-1 record against ranked foes. The Dutchman began the year with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 win over Michigan State’s No. 26 Ozan Baris. In doubles, Middle Tennessee is lead by Francisco Rocha and Boulsen who are 2-0 against ranked pairings this spring.
