Previously On – Last spring, Pepperdine defeated Arizona in Malibu in doubles and singles. The Wildcats were able to grab two singles points but the Wave won the match after taking the doubles point and four singles matches. Two seasons ago, the Cats beat the Wave 5-2 at home and they aim to do it again this Friday. The Wildcats are on a two-match winning streak against the Toreros which they seek to continue this Sunday. 

ITA Ranks – After suffering their first loss against #6 Texas, Arizona fell three spots from #14 to #17 in the latest ITA Coaches Poll rankings. Pepperdine was ranked #20 last week but is now unranked. Both Pepperdine and San Diego received votes in the latest poll. Six Wildcats represent Arizona in the ITA Top 125 singles: #19 Jonas Ziverts, #54 Herman Hoeyeraal, #74 Nick Lagaev, #78 Jay Friend, #Colton Smith and #Gustaf Strom. Pepperdine has two ranked singles players, #Daniel De Jonge and #Tim Zeitvogel. They are ranked #34 in doubles. The Toreros have one ranked player, #68 Iiro Vasa. 

Looking Ahead – The Wildcats are headed back to Texas after these two home matches to face off against #11 Baylor on Friday, Feb. 10 and #6 Texas on Sunday, Feb. 12. Arizona is looking for their first win ever against the Bears, and hope to rebound against the Longhorns after losing 4-0 in ITA Kickoff Championship match last Sunday.
