Baris Ranked No. 26 in ITA Singles Fall Rankings

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State men’s tennis freshman Ozan Baris made his debut in the ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, entering the rankings at No. 26 in singles, as announced by the organization Tuesday.

Baris is the first Michigan State player to earn a spot in the ITA Singles Rankings since Jack Winkler (No. 105) on April 16, 2019.

Baris enters the ITA rankings after finishing the fall season with a 12-5 record. He picked up seven wins over ranked opponents during the season, five of those wins coming at the ITA All-American Championships in October. Baris advanced to the consolation semifinals at the ITA All-American Championships and Round of 16 at the ITA Midwest Regional on Oct. 22. All five of Baris’ losses came at the hands of ranked opponents.

Baris won the US Open Juniors doubles title alongside Stanford freshman Nishesh Basavareddy, who enters the Nov. 16 rankings at No. 2, in September.

Spartan men’s tennis opens the spring season in January.
