Women’s Tennis Wins Fourth Straight Match in Sweep at #48 Utah

SALT LAKE CITY-  Four straight! No. 31 Sun Devil Women’s Tennis (12-8, 4-4 Pac-12) are red-hot, winning each of their last four matches as they swept No. 48 Utah (10-9, 2-6 Pac-12) on Friday afternoon at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center.
 
Arizona State’s sweep over the Utes marks the fourth sweep against them in the past five seasons and their second match in a row sweeping their opponent.

ASU captured the doubles point following wins on courts two and three. First, on court two, the duo of Giulia Morlet and Sara Svetac defeated Utah’s Samantha Horwood/Kat Lyman, 6-4. Marianna Argyrokastriti/Emilija Tverijonaite clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory over the Utes’ Sara Akid/Yuhan Liu on court three.
 
Carrying the advantage into singles play, No. 75 Morlet was the first to score as she down No. 114 Marcela Lopez 6-4, 6-1 on court one. No. 100 Tverijonaite added to ASU’s lead with a 6-4, 6-3 victory on court three against Utah’s Kat Lyman. On court three, Argyrokastriti clinched the match for the Sun Devils with a 7-5, 6-1 win over the Utes’ Kaila Barksdale.
