UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa — The Nittany Lions return to match play this weekend hosting No. 4 Ohio State on Friday at 4 pm. ET and a doubleheader against the University of Pennsylvania and Bucknell on Sunday.
Last Time Out
The Nittany Lions will return to the court after a two-week gap in play. Penn State faced Kentucky on the road last time out, falling just short, 4-3. The Nittany Lions earned two wins in doubles play from duos Olivia Ryan and Yvonne Zuffova as well as Gabby O’Gorman and Sofiya Chekhlystova. Penn State collected wins in singles play from Chekhlystova and Zuffova.
Scouting the Buckeyes
Ohio State heads to Happy Valley ranked the No. 4 team in the country. In singles play, the Buckeyes hold three players ranked in the top 100 including No. 6 Irina Cantos Siemers, No. 31 Isabelle Boulais and No. 75 Sydni Ratliff. In doubles play, Ohio State duo Siemers and Ratliff are ranked at No. 31. The Buckeyes come into the weekend 6-3.
Scouting the Quakers
The University of Pennsylvania will face West Virginia on Saturday on the road before traveling to University Park to battle the Nittany Lions on Sunday. Penn holds a 5-4 record prior to their two-match weekend. Iuliia Bryzgalova of Penn ranks 86th nationally in singles play. In doubles play, duo Iuliia Bryzgalova and Marija Curnic are ranked 41st in the country. Penn will continue its road journey facing UC San Diego next Friday.
Scouting the Bison
Bucknell will face Penn State on the road after hosting Saint Bonaventure Saturday afternoon. Bucknell holds a 7-2 record coming into the weekend. Following Sunday’s match, the Bison will travel to Chaminade Monday, March 14.
