Women’s Tennis Drops Match to No. 35 Illinois

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women’s tennis team (5-15, 4-6 B1G) fell in a Big Ten match to No. 35 Illinois (16-7, 8-2 B1G), 4-1. 
 
The Blue and White will play Northwestern on Sunday, April 21 at noon for Senior Day.
 
DOUBLES
 
At No. 3, Olivia Dorner and Yvonne Zuffova dropped their match to Josie Frazier and Alice Xu, 6-3. 
 
Jordina Cegarra and Alina Lebedeva fell to Kasia Treiber and McKenna Schaefbauer at No. 2, 6-4. 
 
At the top doubles spot, Sofiya Chekhlystova and Karly Friedland were up 5-4 against No. 73 ranked Megan Heuser and Kate Duong when their match was left unfinished.
 
SINGLES
 
The Fighting Illini won three singles matches to clinch the match.
 
Sofiya Chekhlystova won the lone point for the Nittany Lions with her win at the top singles spot against Megan Heuser, 6-1, 7-5. 
 
At No. 2, Olivia Dorner fell to McKenna Schaefbauer, 7-5, 6-1.
 
Jordina Cegarra lost her match at No. 4 to Josie Frazier, 6-2, 6-4. 
 
Karly Friedland dropped her match to Kasia Treiber for Illinois to clinch the match, 6-1, 6-7 (4-7), 6-2.
