LINCOLN, Neb. – The Penn State women’s tennis team (5-13, 4-4 B1G) dropped a 4-3 decision to Nebraska (11-8, 2-6).
The Blue and White will compete again on Sunday, April 14 at 10 a.m. versus Iowa.
DOUBLES
At the top doubles spot, Sofiya Chekhlystova and Yvonne Zuffova took on Nebraska’s Raphaelle Lacasse and Maja Pietrowicz, ranked 75th in the country. The Nittany Lions fell in this match, 6-2.
Olivia Dorner and Karly Friedland competed at No. 2 doubles against Anfisa Danilchenko and Ana Zamburek. They lost this match, 6-3.
At No. 3, Jordina Cegarra and Alina Lebedeva versed the Cornhuskers’ Isabel A. Gallego and Lucy Loy. Cegarra and Lebedeva were up 5-2 when the match was left unfinished.
SINGLES
The Buckeyes grabbed three singles matches to win the match overall, 4-0.
At No. 3, Yvonne Zuffova fell in her match against Isabel A. Gallego, 6-0, 6-1.
Olivia Dorner lost her match to Anfisa Danilchenko, 6-1, 6-0.
Jordina Ceggara dropped her match at the No. 4 against Maja Pietrowicz, 6-4, 6-0.
Sofiya Chekhlystova’s, Karly Friedland’s and Alina Lebedeva’s matches were all left unfinished.
