UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- Penn State women’s tennis (3-3) will travel this weekend to Xavier (4-3) on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 3 p.m. and Kentucky (6-0) on Sunday, Feb.13 at 11 a.m. for a two-match weekend.
Scouting the Nittany Lions
Freshman Yvonne Zuffova, who has competed in the No. 2 position this season, continues her impressive work in singles play collecting a 4-2 record so far. Additionally, Sofiya Chekhlystova and Gabby O’Gorman own winning records 4-2 and 3-2 respectively in singles action for the Nittany Lions.
The Nittany Lions have shown consistency in doubles play throughout the season. O’Gorman and Chekhlystova have posted a 4-2 record holding Penn State’s No.1 spot.
Last Time Out
The Nittany Lions are coming off a 5-2 victory over James Madison. Penn State secured the doubles point against the Dukes by wins from duo O’Gorman and Chekhlystova as well as Karly Friedland and Alexandra Nielsen. Penn State earned an additional four points in singles play with wins from Chekhlystova, Zuffova, O’Gorman and Nielsen.
Scouting Xavier
The Musketeers will host Penn State after coming off a 4-3 victory over Virginia Tech on Monday afternoon. In singles, Ahemir Kyle puts up an undefeated 3-0 record coming into Saturday’s match. Xavier is set to face East Tennessee State at home, Feb. 25 after its matchup with Penn State.
Scouting Kentucky
The Wildcat’s come into Sunday’s match against the Nittany Lions with an undefeated, 6-0 record. Kentucky possesses two ranked doubles duos including No.47 Carlota Molina and Elizabeth Stevens alongside as well as No. 58 ranked Fiona Arrese and Florencia Urrutia. Following Sunday’s match against Penn State, Kentucky will face Western Kentucky.
