TUCSON, Ariz. – Women’s Tennis is now 6-1 after three home victories. The Wildcats hosted Fresno State on Friday, Feb. 3, and FAU and NAU on Saturday, Feb. 4 at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center. They won 4-2 against the Bulldogs, swept the Owls 4-0 and defeated NAU 4-1.
Arizona took both doubles points in their matchups against FAU and NAU. At one doubles, Midori Castillo and Belen Nevenhoven finished first in both matches. Salma Ziouti and Parker Fry secured the doubles point against the Owls after finishing 6-3 on court two. Kayla Wilkins and Reece Carter finalized the doubles point against the Lumberjacks with a 7-5 win on court three.
The Cats won a total of six singles points between the two matches against FAU and NAU. Castillo was the only Wildcat to win both of her doubles and singles matches. At two singles, she defeated Katerina Filip of FAU in straight sets 7-5, 6-0. And at one singles, Castillo clinched the match against NAU after sweeping Sofia Markova 6-0 in the first set then winning 6-2 in the second. Freshman Tanvi Narendran is on a six week winning streak after defeating her NAU opponent 6-1, 6-2. She is currently tied with Ziouti for the most singles wins so far this season.

Women’s Tennis is on the road for the next three weeks. First up is a flight to Honolulu, Hawaii for two matches against University of Hawaii on Friday, Feb. 10 and Saturday, Feb. 11. Next they are headed to the midwest for matches against Texas Tech, University of Kansas and UC Santa Barbara in Lawrence, Kan. The Wildcats will end their road trip in Montgomery, Ala. for the Blue Gray Classic Feb. 25-26.
Arizona is back at home on Friday, March 3 where they will open Pac-12 play against University of Oregon.
