W. Tennis Garners 2023 ITA Academic Honors – University of Miami Athletics

CORAL GABLES, Fla. The University of Miami women’s tennis team earned multiple academic distinctions from the ITA, as announced Monday morning.

For the 10th time in the last 11 years, including the ninth in a row, the Hurricanes received ITA Academic Team distinction. The honor goes to all teams with a combined cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 for the academic year. Miami posted a stellar 3.54 mark in 2022-23, its ninth time in 11 years above 3.5

Additionally, six Hurricanes received ITA Scholar-Athlete plaudits: Daevenia Achong, Audrey Boch-Collins, Brooke Dugarte, Alexa Noel, Isabella Pfennig and Maya Tahan. The honors goes to student-athletes with at least a 3.5 GPA for the academic year.

A fifth-year senior and two-time Miami graduate, Achong posted a 3.84 GPA in her master’s finance program and was a CSC Second Team Academic All-American. The Geleen, Netherlands, native previously earned a bachelor’s degree in finance with a 3.748 GPA.

Boch-Collins, a criminology major, tallied a 3.66 GPA in her second year at Miami. The junior from Las Vegas has claimed All-ACC Academic Team recognition in both of her seasons as a Hurricane.

Dugarte recorded a splendid 3.82 GPA during her freshman season at The U. The Miami native is a public health major.

A junior from Summit, N.J., Noel registered a 3.58 GPA during her first year as a Hurricane. She is majoring in sociology.

Pfennig, a CSC First Team Academic All-American, turned in a perfect 4.0 GPA for the second time in three years of college. A junior from Gauting, Germany, Pfennig is an economics major.

Hailing from Tel Mond, Israel, Tahan recorded a 3.71 GPA during her fourth-year senior campaign. She graduated from Miami in May with a degree in psychology.

Five of the six Hurricanes who received ITA Scholar-Athlete distinction also made the All-ACC Academic Team.
