Blue Devil Women’s Tennis Turns Attention to NCAA Selection Monday


DURHAM – Head coach Jamie Ashworth and the Duke women’s tennis team have turned their attention towards the NCAA Tournament selection show, which will take place Monday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m., live on NCAA.com. 
 
The Blue Devils will enter the NCAA Tournament with a 15-9 overall record and are coming off advancing to the quarterfinals of the ACC Championship.  Duke features eight ranked wins, including victories over No. 13 UCLA and No. 14 NC State. 
 
Duke is expected to receive an NCAA Tournament bid for the 34th-consecutive season and 35th overall invitation.  In 34 appearances, the Blue Devils have tallied an 80-33 record for a 70.8 winning percentage, advanced to the NCAA Semifinals 11 different times and won the 2009 NCAA Championship.  Ashworth has guided the Blue Devils into the NCAA Tournament each of his 27 seasons at Duke, including nine semifinal trips and the 2009 title. 
 
Duke currently features five ranked singles players – Shavit Kimchi (64), Emma Jackson (89), Ellie Coleman (93), Iuliia Bryzgalova (100) and Katie Codd (106).  As a team, the Blue Devils are ranked No. 21. 
 
Head coach Jamie Ashworth has guided Duke into the NCAA Tournament in each of his 26 seasons at the helm, including nine semifinal appearances and the 2009 NCAA title. 
 
The NCAA Tournament will open May 3 at campus sites.
