Vols Wrap Up Main-Draw Action in Tulsa


TULSA, Oklahoma – The Tennessee men’s tennis team concluded its main-draw competition Thursday at the ITA All-American Championships.
 
In singles play Thursday, Tennessee graduate student #47 Emile Hudd dropped a tightly-contested battle to Duke’s #28 Garrett Johns, 4-6, 3-6. On the doubles courts in the evening, the seventh-ranked duo of Hudd and UT sophomore Shunsuke Mitsui took the first set of their match, but eventually fell in the deciding 10-point third-set as Georgia’s Trent Bryde and Ethan Quinn took the 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 decision.
 

Mitsui, currently ranked 82nd nationally, advanced to the Round of 16 in the singles consolation draw via walkover against #48 Jacob Bickersteth of Michigan. Mitsui will face Texas A&M’s #50 Trey Hilderbrand Friday.
