Virginia Women's Tennis | No. 9 Virginia Hosts the Smithfield Commonwealth Clash on Thursday

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  The No. 9 Virginia women’s tennis team (15-4, 8-2 ACC) plays its final home contest of the 2023 regular season when it hosts Virginia Tech (10-10, 1-9 ACC) on Thursday, April 6 at 4 p.m. at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort.

MATCH INFORMATION

  • Thursday’s match is Senior Day with grad student Julia Adams being honored in a pregame on-court ceremony at 3:50 p.m.
  • The match is scheduled to be played outdoors at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort. Please check UVAWomensTennis social media accounts for any venue changes
  • Admission is free
  • Live streaming and scoring will be available through links posted on VirginiaSports.com

NOTING THE CAVALIERS

  • Virginia moved back into the top 10 of this week’s ITA team rankings, coming in at No. 9
  • UVA has won nine of its last 10 matches
  • The Cavaliers are in fourth place in the ACC with three matches remaining before the conference tournament
  • Natasha Subhash was named the ACC Co-Player of the Week on Tuesday. She went 2-0 in doubles and won both clinching singles matches in last weekend’s wins against No. 20 Georgia Tech and No. 30 Clemson. Her straight-set victory against No. 7 Carol Lee was her highest-ranked victory of the year and the fourth top-10 victory of her collegiate career
  • Subhash is 19-5 in singles overall this season and 11-3 in dual matches
  • Sara Ziodato leads the Cavaliers with 22 singles wins this year. She is 7-3 in her last 10 matches
  • Mélodie Collard went 2-0 last weekend to improve to 17-8 on the season
  • The Cavaliers went 5-0 in doubles last weekend
  • UVA has won the doubles point in 10 of its last 12 matches
  • Julia Adams and Mélodie Collard are 15-2 at No. 1 doubles and are 9-1in ACC matches
  • Natasha Subhash is 14-2 at No. 2 doubles (8-1 with Elaine Chervinsky)
  • Adams is 26-9 in doubles this season; Subhash is 25-5

NOTING VIRGINIA TECH

  • Özlem Uslu was named the ACC Freshman of the Week after picking up a win last weekend against No. 7 Carol Lee of Georgia Tech
  • Uslu has moved back into the ITA singles rankings, coming in at No. 67
  • The Hokies dropped a pair of 4-3 matches against Clemson and Georgia Tech last weekend. Their lone conference win was a 5-2 match against Louisville on March 17
  • The Cavaliers are 42-5 all-time against the Hokies and have won the last 26 meetings. Virginia Tech’s last win against Virginia came in October of 1998
