Vanderbilt Women's Tennis | Mohr and Lee Advance to Semifinals

STILLWATER, Okla. – Célia-Belle Mohr and Anessa Lee will play on in the NCAA Doubles championships after a quarterfinal win on Thursday. The victory for the Commodore duo came shortly after Mohr saw her run in the singles tournament end in the quarterfinals.

To begin the day in singles action, the 13th-ranked Mohr took an early lead and claimed the first set, 6-4, over Georgia’s Anastasiia Lopata. The next set went to Lopata, 6-4, and the pair forced a decisive third set. Mohr and Lopata went point-for-point in the third and after a hard-fought match, Mohr fell, 7-5.

After a brief break, Mohr and Lee began their doubles match against Oklahoma State’s Ange Oby Kajuru and Anastasiya Komar. The Dore duo claimed the first set in a 7-6 (4) tiebreak. Kajuru and Komar stormed back in the second set to force a third, tiebreaking set. In a ten-point tiebreak, Mohr and Lee took down the Cowgirl pair, 10-7, and will compete in the semifinals on Friday.

They are scheduled to face Georgia’s No. 14 tandem of Aysegul Mert and Dasha Vidmanova at 2:30 p.m.
