Utah to Host Arizona and Arizona State for Final Home Matches


FIRST SERVE

The Utah men’s tennis program is set to compete in the last set of home matches this weekend with a match against the Arizona Wildcats on Friday and the Arizona State Sun Devils on Sunday. This weekend closes out the home matches for the Utes as they prepare for one last weekend of play on the road before heading to the Pac-12 Championships beginning Apr. 26.

IN THE RANKS
Utah Head Coach Roeland Brateanu continues to lead the team into the ITA ranks week after week. Currently Utah is the No. 27 team in the nation, with three individuals ranked in singles and one team ranked in doubles. Patrik Trhac and Berk Bugarikj continue making their appearance in the doubles rankings, this time taking the No. 37 spot. In singles rankings, Geronimo Espin Busleiman comes in at No. 61, Francisco Bastias at No. 82, and Franco Capalbo at No. 94.
 
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
The Arizona Wildcats currently hold a 19-4 overall record, sitting at 5-1 for conference play. The team’s most recent victories were a 4-1 match against Oregon on Apr. 7 and a 4-0 match against Washington. The last time the Utes faced the Wildcats was during the 2022 season, a match played in Tucson, Ariz. Resulting in a 4-0 loss for Utah.
 
SCOUTING THE SUN DEVILS
The Arizona State Sun Devils are at a 13-8 overall record this season and a 2-4 conference record. Most recently the Sun Devils boasted victories against Washington and Oregon of 4-1 and 4-3, respectively. The Utes last faced the Sun Devils in a match in Tempe, Ariz. During the 2022 season, resulting in a 4-2 win for Utah.
