LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The USC women’s tennis team will take to the court for the first time this fall as members of the Big 10 when four players head up North to take part in the Battle of the Bay Classic this weekend. The tournament runs Thursday, Sept. 12 through Sunday, Sept. 15 at the California Tennis Club in San Francisco.
The Women of Troy are looking to start the fall season off strong, coming off a tremendous 2024 season. The team stormed to a 20-9 record last spring, including an 8-2 record in the final season of Pac-12 conference play. USC also advanced to the Round of 16 in the NCAA Championship Tournament and saw three individuals qualify for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship.
This season, the Women of Troy will look to make an impact in the Big Ten, boasting a team flush with talent, both returning and new. With four players making the trip up to San Francisco, USC will count on three returners to get the season going.
Junior Emma Charney will lead the way in San Francisco, coming off a 30-win campaign in 2024, including 16 wins in dual play. Sophomores Lily Fairclough and Immi Haddad will both take to the court for the first time in fall competition after joining the Women of Troy last spring. Graduate student Maia Sung will round out the group, donning the Cardinal and Gold for the first time after transferring from Princeton.
The last time the Women of Troy competed in the Battle of the Bay was during the Fall of 2022, where Charney made her Trojan debut as a freshman.
Live scoring and video will not be available at the Battle of the Bay Classic. Follow @USCWomenstennis on X and Instagram for ongoing coverage and updates.
