LOS ANGELES – USC men’s tennis will have two more shots to send someone to the NCAA Individual Championships, as freshman Niels Hoffmann heads to the ITA Conference Master’s Championships and the trio of senior Karl Lee and Peter Makk, as well as graduate student Tristan Bradley, go to the ITA West Sectional Championships. Hoffmann will journey to Rome, Ga., and the trio will take a shorter trip to Malibu, Calif., with both tournaments slated for Thursday, Nov. 7 through Sunday, Nov. 10.
Hoffmann will represent not only the Trojans but also the Big Ten at the Conference Master’s Championships. Only one singles competitor and one doubles team was selected from each conference, as Hoffmann will represent USC’s new conference. The freshman has the best record amongst the Trojans, as he is 10-3 during the fall season.
Hoffmann will begin his journey amongst some of the best as he takes on the Atlantic Sun’s representative Bellarmine’s Jack Batchelor in the round of 32. The winner of that match will take on the ACC’s singles competitor, Notre Dame’s No. 13 Sebastian Dominko.

Makk will participate in his second fall event, as he competed at the ITA All-American earlier in the fall season (Sept. 21-29). The senior is 1-2 in singles play, with a win over No. 7-ranked Gavin Young in the main draw at the ITA All-American. Lee is 3-2 on the season after competing at the ITA Southwest Regional (Oct. 18-20). Both players will start their journeys tomorrow as Makk begins at noon, and Lee’s match kicks off at 1 p.m.
Lee and Bradley will once again compete together at the West Sectional, which starts at 10 a.m. on Thursday. The duo is one of 16 teams competing. They are 2-1 this season and recently made it to the quarterfinals at the ITA Southwest Regional.
