Two Terps Receive Big Ten Honors

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Selma Cadar and Maria Budin received Big Ten recognition as announced by the Conference on Wednesday.

Graduate Student Selma Cadar was unanimously selected to the All Big Ten Team.

This is Cadar’s second career All Big Ten selection, previously she received All Big Ten Honors in 2022.

Cadar finished the regular season 9-7 overall with a 5-4 conference record in singles featuring a win over No. 18 Irina Cantos Siemers of Ohio State. In doubles, Cadar finished the regular season 10-7 overall in doubles, playing the majority of the season alongside Kallista Liu in the No. 2 spot.

Cadar was also selected Big Ten Women’s Tennis Player of the Week in March.

Maria Budin was named Maryland’s sportsmanship honoree. The sportsmanship award is awarded to individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These student-athletes must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.

The Terps season will continue in the Big Ten Tournament as the sixth seed.
