GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Clemson Tigers completed the final day of the Gator Fall Invite and officially wrapped up their first fall season under new head coach, Brandon Wagner. In the final day of play, the Tigers earned victories in both doubles and singles.
“Today wrapped up another day of great competition and the opportunity to learn more about ourselves. It also showed us more what needs to fall into place this upcoming season for us to have the season we want. We have a great training block coming up to take advantage of and fine tune some areas that need improvement,” Wagner said. “Overall this was an awesome fall of great team tournament opportunities and there are more individual ones on the table still this fall for them.”
In doubles, the pairing of Noa Vukadin and Max Smith recorded their third straight victory of the invite. In a Clemson led battle, the duo defeated Miami’s Vladislav Melnic and Adrien Burdet, 6-1.
Spencer Whitaker and Stewart Aronson took down the UCF pairing of Emilio Sanchez and Luca Hotze (6-2) for the second day in-a-row.
In singles, Smith defeated Sanchez in two sets (6-2, 6-3) and Whitaker took down Hotze, 7-6 (6), 6-4.
The Tigers officially conclude the 2023 fall season in Gainesville. Clemson will begin to prepare for the first spring/regular season with Wagner at the helm. The schedule for the spring will be released in the next few weeks.
