COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri tennis program has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2022-23 season. The slate includes 20 home matches at the Mizzou Tennis Complex and 13 SEC matches.
Mizzou’s stacked schedule includes 15 teams who finished in the top-75 of the 2022 ITA Women’s Tennis rankings, and a road meeting with reigning SEC Champion Texas A&M. Mizzou is slated to return one of its top performers in Gabriela Martinez who led the team with 11 singles wins in 2021-22 and clinched a pair of victories against ranked SEC opponents.
The 2022-23 season kicks off with a fall slate of three home matches Sept. 18 against Kansas City, Sept. 24 against Bellarmine and Nebraska-Omaha Sept. 25. Afterwards, the team begins a series of fall tournaments with the first taking place at Vanderbilt on Oct. 8. Mizzou is then slated for the ITA Regionals in Stillwater, Okla. Oct. 12, followed by the FIU Tournament Oct. 28. The Tigers round out the fall semester Nov. 11 at the North Florida Tournament.
Mizzou returns to action in the spring with a series of dual matches including Oklahoma, who finished ranked No. 2 nationally last season, and Tarleton State on Jan. 14 in Norman, Okla. Following that, the Tigers will host South Dakota Jan. 20 before SEMO and Central Arkansas on Jan. 21.
Entering the month of February, Mizzou hosts Illinois Feb. 10 before kicking off Southeastern Conference play with four-straight road matches. Mizzou’s first SEC matchup comes March 3 against Tennessee followed by a March 5 meeting with Georgia. The Tigers’ will face LSU March 10 and Texas A&M March 12 before returning home.
The stacked conference slate continues with a home matchup against Mississippi State March 17 and Ole Miss March 19. Mizzou then plays host to Kentucky March 24 and Vanderbilt March 26, before rounding out the month at Florida March 31.
April opens against South Carolina on the second before four-straight home matches to round out the regular-season. Mizzou will host Alabama April 7 followed by Auburn April 9. Arkansas and Saint Louis both come to town April 14 and 15, respectively.
The Tigers’ then gear up for postseason play as the 2022-23 SEC Tournament will be held in Athens, Ga. April 19-23.
