Tennis Competes In the First Two Days Of ITA Northeast Regionals

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Syracuse tennis team completed the first two days of ITA Northeast Regionals on Friday and Saturday, with the competition taking place on the campus of Dartmouth College in Massachusetts.
 
When the draws were released for regionals, it was announced that Zeynep Erman, Ines Fonte, Shiori Ito, Viktoriya Kanapatskaya, Miyuka Kimoto, and Polina Kozyreva all received first-round byes. 
 
It was also announced that due to their rankings in the region, Kimoto and Kanapatskaya automatically qualified for Super Regionals in singles. The duo also automatically qualified for super regionals in doubles play. 
 
In singles play, Erman locked in wins over Raian (URI) and Koscielski, Ito recorded victories over Rodriguez (Niagara) and Constaninou (UConn). Kozyreva went 1-1, with the victory coming against Cvackova (URI) before falling to Cheng (Yale)
 
In doubles play, the duo of Kanapatskaya/Fonte punched in two victories over Giralt/Wilson of Siena and Wright/Petre-Pere of UConn. Erman/Ito went 1-1 in doubles play, defeating Akbas/Alopyan (Buffalo) before falling to Kieybernab/Bibatista (BU).

Ito def. Rodriguez (Niagara) 6-0, 6-1
Ito def. Constantinou (UConn) 7-6 (3), 6-4
Kozyreva def. Cvackova (URI) 7-6, 6-2
Cheng (Yale) def. Kozyreva 7-6, 4-6, 10-7
 
Kanapatskaya/Fonte def. Giralt/Wilson (Siena) 8-4
Kanapatskaya/Fonte def. Wright/Petre-Pere (UConn) 8-2
Erman/Ito def. Akbas/Alopyan (Buffalo) 8-7 (4)
Kieybernab/Bibatista (BU) def. Erman/Ito 8-6
