TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Men’s Tennis has amplified its already exemplary coaching staff by promoting Bryce Warren to Associate Head Coach and adding Mateus Ceolin as Volunteer Assistant Coach.
Warren joined the Wildcat family in August 2020 after he coached at the University of Georgia for two years.
“It is no coincidence that we have had two of our best years in program history since Bryce’s arrival. He has been instrumental in taking our team to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2021, and our first Pac 12 conference championship in program history in 2022. He is an incredibly hard worker and has added a lot to the development of our players and program,” Head Coach Clancy Shields said.
“Additionally, he is a terrific recruiter, connects well with people, and has a great eye for identifying talent. I’m not surprised he has earned the reputation as one of the top assistant coaches in the country. I’m thankful for Bryce’s contributions these past few years and look forward to expanding his role within our program as an Associate Head Coach,” said Shields.
Warren said of his promotion: “I want to thank Clancy Shields and the administration for this opportunity to continue to grow as a coach and take on an expanded role with this team. Clancy has been a tremendous mentor in my coaching career and I look forward to what the future holds for this program.”
In another exciting inclusion for Men’s Tennis, Mateus Ceolin kicks off his first season with the Cats this fall. Ceolin began his coaching career at his alma mater Montana State University. Then he went on to work as a graduate assistant coach at Cameron University for two years, where he received his master’s in psychology.
During the 2021-22 season at Cameron, Ceolin was nominated for ITA Assistant Coach of the Year for the South Central Region.
“My wife Emily and I are incredibly excited to join the Wildcat family and call Tucson home! Thank you to Clancy and Bryce for this awesome opportunity. I am looking forward to getting to know the team well and starting working with them,” Ceolin said.
“Also looking forward to doing anything I can to support the Arizona Athletics department and the whole Tucson community. There is a lot of excitement around Arizona Athletics, and I am ready to go to work!”
